Questions people ask¶
Short answers, with a link to the page that covers each one properly.
Editing and publishing¶
I spotted a typo in a live questionnaire. Can I just fix it?¶
No. A published version is read-only in every field. Press Start a new draft, fix it there, and publish. The typo stays live until you do.
There is no undo and no quick edit — which is why the Questions tab is worth a minute before publishing rather than after. See Publishing.
Does publishing interrupt travellers who are part-way through?¶
No. A conversation stays on the version it started on, all the way to the end. Anyone starting after you publish gets the new one.
So the two versions run side by side for a while, and an enquiry arriving tomorrow may still be answering yesterday's questions.
What happens to the old version when I publish a new one?¶
It is archived, and the confirmation says so before you commit. Travellers in the middle of it finish on it; nobody new starts it.
Do I have to update my website after publishing?¶
No. The embed snippet never changes. Your site is embedded once, and after that publishing is the only step. See Publishing.
Questions and answers¶
Does editing a question in the bank change questionnaires already using it?¶
No. Adding a question to a questionnaire takes a copy. The template and the copy go their separate ways from that moment, so a published questionnaire never changes under a traveller's feet. See The question bank.
I deleted a question from the bank. Have I broken anything?¶
No. Questionnaires holding a copy are unaffected — the confirmation says so before you delete.
Why can't I pick this question in a condition?¶
Only questions asked before the step you are editing are offered. If the list is empty, nothing is asked before it yet.
Either move the step later, or move the question you want to read earlier. See Conditions.
My condition uses "is not" and never seems to match.¶
A question that was never asked counts as unanswered, and every comparison
against it is false — is not included. An unanswered question is not "not
Honeymoon"; it is nothing at all.
Use has been answered to test whether something was answered. See Conditions.
Can a condition read one field inside a multi-field question?¶
Only if that field has its own Reference. Without one the answer is readable as a whole and nothing more — so the only operator on offer is has been answered. See Ways a traveller can answer.
Can a traveller go back and change an answer?¶
Yes. Later questions are then re-decided from the new answer, and any that no longer apply drop out of the conversation along with their answers.
Pricing and contact details¶
I connected a question to a module and nothing happened.¶
Connect to a module tells pricing and email where to read an answer. It does not switch anything on by itself.
Verification in particular is a separate tick box — Verify this answer with a code, on the question's answer type. Connecting to the Email address module does not ask the traveller to confirm anything. See Ways a traveller can answer.
Pricing is using the wrong number from a choice question.¶
Conditions and stored answers use the option's Label. Value (optional) is
the number pricing reads. If an option means "about 7 nights", 7 goes in
Value — the label is what the traveller reads, not what pricing adds up.
Trying it out¶
Is the preview safe to use on a live questionnaire?¶
Yes. Nothing is saved, no emails are sent, and any 6-digit code passes verification. The tab says as much. Use it as much as you like.
How do I check a condition actually works?¶
Walk it in the preview, answering one way and then the other. The sentence under the condition builder tells you what you wrote; only the preview tells you what a traveller meets.
Still stuck¶
Some things exist in the product but are not documented yet — sections, and handing a traveller to a person mid-conversation. For those, and for anything this guide does not answer, ask whoever set up your account. See About this guide.
